All I can say is…wow. Not a good feeling.
Officer Darren Wilson’s gofundme has more money donated than Michael Brown’s memorial fund. White privilege at it’s finest.
I don’t usually post about stuff like this, but please share this in hopes of more people donating to Michael Brown’s family. You can find the gofundme page: here.
You know what’s really eye-opening? It took over 4,000 people to raise $112,000 for Michael Brown’s memorial in 7 days. And it took a little over 2,500 people to do the same for the officer in 3 days.
This not only says something about race, but about class, and how the two intersect with one another. Rich and mostly white people will come to the aid of a “slandered” cop, but it takes a whole lot of poor mostly black people to put in the same effort in twice the amount of time.
This isn’t just reflective of the racism that situates itself in criminal justice, but also how it situates itself even in social class and politics. This says so much, SO MUCH, about just how little political power poor people, and really poor black people have when it tries to take a stand against the white rich privilege that abuses them.

i don’t really get why normal procedure on tumblr dot com is to relegate ordinary examples of sexism etc to be uniquely straight or white?
its kinda like they’re so afraid to say anything to could possibly offend anyone lgbt+ or non-white they won’t generalize completely any one particular gender (even though it’s entirely possible for the OP to be both of those things)
its kinda like they’ve created this straight white male boogeyman that’s secretly behind every instance of discrimination, which is just kinda silly and infantile
not to mention it could discredit any valid points they’re making, seeing as people just glance over a post like this and see this cliche “straight white male” nonsense and move on ygm
Supermodel Ataui Deng has been missing for 10 days, y’all. Had it not been for Roblé’s post, I wouldn’t have heard anything. 10 Days and NOTHING in the media?
If you have seen her or know anything concerning her disappearance, email FindAtaui@gmail.com
Again, I feel this begs to be said again:
She’s been found: https://uk.news.yahoo.com/missing-model-ataui-deng-found-york-hospital-140806381.html#MNNd6Gw
Sgt. Thomas McVicar of the Jersey City Police Department shot 22 year old Kwadir Felton, leaving him blind, after Kwadir pulled a gun on him, he claims. Kwadir Felton denied the accusation, stating that he doesn’t even carry guns.
"I don’t understand!" Felton yelled at a police officer before his mother was removed from the courtroom. "You didn’t have to shoot me in the head for no reason! You trying to charge me with something I didn’t do!"
i want u to look at this Black man’s face in his response to the verdict. that is the pain of all Black people who are enslaved by this corrupt racist system.
That is the face of more than 500 years of racist and capitalist oppression against Black people. the face of all Black people who have been shut out from this unjust system and either imprisoned, tortured, killed, or all three.
that is the face Trayvon would have had if he were here to see that Zimmerman was found not guilty. shit, if Trayvon were alive HE’d be the one charged guilty.

A silent protest in Love Park, downtown Philadelphia orchestrated by performance artists protesting the murder of Michael Brown in Ferguson. The onslaught of passerby’s wanting to take photos with the statue exemplifies the disconnect in American society. Simply frame out the dead body, and it doesn’t exist.
Here are some observations by one of the artists involved in the event:
I don’t know who any of these folks are.
They were tourists I presume.
But I heard most of what everything they said. A few lines in particular stood out. There’s one guy not featured in the photos. His friends were trying to get him to join the picture but he couldn’t take his eyes off the body.
"Something about this doesn’t feel right. I’m going to sit this one out, guys." "Com’on man… he’s already dead."
There were a billion little quips I heard today. Some broke my heart. Some restored my faith in humanity. There was an older white couple who wanted to take a picture under the statue.
The older gentleman: “Why do they have to always have to shove their politics down our throats.” Older woman: “They’re black kids, honey. They don’t have anything better to do.”
One woman even stepped over the body to get her picture. But as luck would have it the wind blew the caution tape and it got tangle around her foot. She had to stop and take the tape off. She still took her photo.
There was a guy who yelled at us… “We need more dead like them. Yay for the white man!”
"One young guy just cried and then gave me a hug and said ‘thank you. It’s nice to know SOMEBODY sees me.’
Truscum would deny resources to people they don’t like.
Anti-truscum would give resources to everyone, even truscum.
That’s the pivotal difference.
