OK Highway Patrol Captain George Brown says the best “tip” for women to not get raped by a cop is to “follow the law in the first place so you don’t get pulled over.”http://youtu.be/BO8g8akPWcY (Last third of the video).
Three serial rapists in 3 weeks arrested in Oklahoma, all cops.

Pro tip: if you’re signaled to pull over (whether you’re male or female) and you’re in a place that has no witnesses, turn your hazard lights on to acknowledge the officer’s siren, and drive to the nearest gas station or populated area. This is accepted protocol by every agency. You are not obligated pull over until you can do so safely. This includes personal safety. Understand your rights, brothers and sisters. There are disgusting examples of authority in this world.

HAZARD LIGHTS ARE NOT AN ACCEPTABLE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. IT IS NOT ACCEPTED PROTOCOL BY EVERY AGENCY. DO NOT JUST CONTINUE DRIVING WITH YOUR HAZARD LIGHTS IN CASE THE COP MIGHT THINK IT’S A LOW-SPEED CHASE.
I know that sounds dumb, but hear me out. My mother is a dispatcher for the local police station. I asked her about how to pull over for a cop and even brought up the use of hazard lights, and she told me that it is not always accepted. This is what she told me you can do in order to feel safe when pulling over:
Call the police. No, really. Call and tell the dispatcher where you are and that there is a cop behind you demanding you pull over. The dispatcher can and will stay on the line with you while they look up the area you’re in to see if it’s one of their station’s cops. Then, once the cop comes to your window, you can crack it open (it only has to be an inch!) while still on the phone with the dispatcher. This is definitely, 100% accepted protocol.
The dispatcher will verify that it is their own, real cop, and they will gladly stay on the line with you throughout your interaction with the officer. And God forbid this ever happens to any of you, but if something were to happen to you during this time, you’ve already contacted 911 and given your location to the dispatcher.
Please keep this in mind if you are ever requested to pull over and do not feel safe. The dispatcher will understand. Do not, however, continue to drive, because there might be the off-chance an officer will think you’re flat-out refusing to pull over (a well-lit, populated area might be a ways away).
Stay safe.

I am a dispatcher and I can vouch for the above statement a hundred percent. It is totally okay! Chances are, the officer may have already called in the traffic stop and so when you provide the approximate location, we should be able to quickly varify whether it is one of our officers or not. Also, when you call in, be sure to provide a description of your vehicle, your license plate if you know it, and your phone number. Also, when you are out and about, especially when you are alone, please make sure to always know your location. Pay attention to street signs that you are passing. It is extremely important.

BREAKING: Here’s the tweet that could lead to a new grand jury in Ferguson, MO.
#Ferguson: @shaunking took screenshot of tweeter @thesusannichols who claims to know juror on #MikeBrown #DarrenWilson grand jury & appears to be receiving leaked information. King says that within seconds of posting this, her friends told her to delete it & she did but not before it was screenshotted. She has since deleted her entire account but King says they checked & she is indeed a #STL resident w/ years’ worth of tweets from there. “If true, her tweet not only reveals a leak in the grand jury, but gives us an ugly glimpse into how things have gone so far. This person who posted it on twitter & her contact on the grand jury must be fully & completely investigated & removed if it’s true.”-@shaunking

What I think of every time I see a “Sexy Pocahontas” or romanticized rendition of “Pocahontas and John Smith”.

Actually the true story is Matoaka was married to a Native guy, with whom she had a child. She was not 12, she was an older teenager, and John Smith did not rape her (actually all records indicate that he had a great relationship with her father, until about a decade after he got back to England and made the Disney story up). She was taken as a hostage to England, where she was imprisoned until John Rolfe coerced her into marriage. She had a child, and she died at the age of 22, of an STI. In private communications with her sister, she made it clear that she had been repeatedly raped while imprisoned in the colonies, including by the governor of Virginia.
So yes, sexual violence is what killed Pocahontas. But you’re not doing much justice to her when you casually replicate lies about her life for your own political message. If you wanna be real about her story, actually be real about it. Her spirit has survived hundreds of years of lies and people using it for their own gain, it’s time we share her story in her own words. There are plenty of oral histories from her people, who still survive and are starting to share those stories publicly (feel free to check the Pocahontas tag on my blog for a link to a well-written article featuring said oral histories).

Who’s Alex?
Billboard demonstrating gender stereotypes as most people automatically assume that Alex is the boy.

I agree with the point the billboard is making entirely. However, there are many more variables that make you assume Alex is the boy, for example:
The boy is looking directly towards you, while the girl has her eyes closed.
The boy is also center frame, giving the illusion that the billboard is about him.
The name Alex is directly next to the boy.
The boy has his hat backwards, revealing his face, making it the center of attention, while the girl has her hat forward and it shades her face - diverting the attention away from her.
My point is, that if the girl was center shot, posing in the same manner as the boy, with the boy alternatively on the right. People would assume Alex is the girl, as she is the center of attention in the billboard.
I agree with what the billboard is representing, but know that there is many more variables that affect our perception of who Alex is.
Edit: I also failed to mention that the writing in the bottom right hand corner is hardly visible, and the boy is lit up better than the girl.

Not to mention Alex is far more commonly a male name than a female one???
tl;dr although this may raise awareness, the premise is nonsensical and proves literally nothing

!!! Attention all Youmacon/Michigan anime convention attendees! !!!
This Ash cosplayer is known to sexually harass people at cons, being that he has grabbed girls’ butts and felt up on their chests.
His name is Mitchel Kaufman and it’s advised that you be wary around him. It’s rumored that he has a friend with him often that records the harassment but is usually standing a ways away.
I don’t want anyone to go through anything like this, so please spread the word. He HAS been reported before but staff hasn’t done anything about him.
Be safe, fellow con-goers!

Okay I am ot going to lie
I know this man, I have known him for about two or three years, and this is entirely true.
He does not care about respect of female bodies, he blatantly and publically will harass them. If you see him even TRY to touch you or speak to you in an inappropriate manner, TELL SOMEONE.
I do not know his friends name, or which one it is, but if it is a man who is fairly tall, black hair, wearing a black trench coat from hot topic with him , steer clear.
Keep a sharp eye out and be safe!
Please single boost this

OKAY SO STORY TIMEMy friend actually linked me to this and told me to tell about my experience with him.
I don’t exactly remember what ShutoCon it was but I think it was 2012, well it was whenever I cosplayed White from Pokemon.
Id seen him a couple times around and he was really nice to me at first so of course I was nice to him back, he did come off a little weird to me though.
Now keep in mind I’m extremely awkward when it comes to physical contact with people I dont know, and at this point I hadn’t even kissed anyone my entire life and I wasn’t even dating my first boyfriend (who is currently my boyfriend and we didn’t kiss until a month into our relationship lol) yet. I was 16 at the time.
I don’t clearly remember exactly how everything went down, but all I know is my trainer hat really saved my ass. He mentioned something about me being cute and I thanked him. He leaned in and I saw what was coming so I bent my head down and knocked my head into his. My friends saw what happened and scooted my booty out of that situation as fast as possible and I avoided any contact with him for the rest of the convention. Now I had JUST met him that weekend.
It really startled me, and I just want to make it clear that cosplay does not equal consent and someone accepting your compliment does not mean they want to kiss you or do anything physical with you. Please keep your hands to yourself and ask permission if it isn’t someone you absolutely know is okay with it.
So please signal boost!!

PLEASE READ. WILL NOT HURT TO AND FORWARD. Kids are putting Drano, tin foil, and a little water in plastic drink bottles and capping it up - leaving it on lawns, in mail boxes, in gardens, on driveways etc. just waiting for you to pick it up intending to put it in the rubbish, but you’ll never make it!!!
If the bottle is picked up, and the bottle is shaken even just a little - in about 30 seconds or less it builds up enough gas which then explodes with enough force to remove some your extremities. The liquid that comes out is boiling hot as well. Don’t pick up any plastic bottles that may be lying in your yards or in the gutter, etc. Pay attention to this. A plastic bottle with a cap. A little Drano. A little water. A small piece of foil. Disturb it by moving it; and BOOM!! No fingers left and other serious effects to your face, eyes, etc. Please ensure that everyone that may not have email access are also informed of this.
Snopes confirms.

I’ve dealt with these before. If you find one:
Do not touch it
Do not touch it
Clear the area around it. It will explode on its own in time.
Once it explodes, do not make contact with the liquid inside. If needed, flush it away with large amounts of water.
Do not try to detonate it. You’ll probably be disfigured.
I’ve seen what these can do. The acidic liquid inside can strip the paint off a car.

when i visited vancouver these were everywhere. it’s not a fucking joke they’re actually scary

Just a reminder that there are awful shitty people out there doing awful shitty things to everyone else

i find the attitude behind pansexuality very smug and troubling

wtfsocialjustice:

i used to identify as pansexual for fun in the 12th grade (and even then i swear i realized it was a tenuous identity) and then i just stopped because not only is it virtually pointless, it’s a label that is is full of superiority. when self-proclaimed pansexuals might be only attracted to ~1%…
